Braun signed an executive order to review policies at state colleges and universities in response to a "wave of antisemitism across the country" that reportedly began with a terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023.
Gov. Braun's executive order targets not just the atmosphere at these institutions, but also offers a definitive stance from the state government. "With this executive order, we are making it clear that Indiana will not tolerate antisemitic discrimination at our state institutions or anywhere else — Jewish Hoosiers should know the state of Indiana condemns antisemitism and stands with them,” Braun stated, according to a WTHR report.
Details on the commencement and conclusion of the reviews have not been articulated. However, it is known that the Indiana Commission for Higher Education is to carry out the evaluations, as per info from WISHTV. This move comes within days of the U.S. Department of Education's announcement which identified Indiana University and 59 other universities under investigation for their alleged failure at protecting Jewish students.
