Two individuals now face charges in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Joliet that resulted in a man's death last December. On December 14, police responded to a report near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and South Chicago Street, where they found 62-year-old Robert Redmond Jr. of Joliet lying on the sidewalk, as reported by ABC7 Chicago. Despite being transported to the hospital, Redmond Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Following the investigation, Joliet residents James Deal, 40, and Dominique Kennedy, 36, of Aurora, have been arrested. Charges against Deal include failing to report the crash and failing to stop, both of which are felonies, as detailed by ABC7 Chicago. In a tragic turn of events, Redmond Jr. was fatally injured and, in an unrelated incident, Kennedy was arrested at her house in Aurora and handed multiple charges, including false report of vehicle theft and obstructing justice.
As per WGN-TV, both individuals were released on a notice to appear in court, and they face their next court dates which have yet to be publicly announced.
