A violent confrontation outside the Cambridge District Court yesterday escalated into a stabbing, leaving one man with serious injuries, Massachusetts State Police confirmed. The incident, occurring around noon, required substantial law enforcement response, including teams from the State Police Community Action Team, K9 Unit, and Air Wing, as per Hoodline. Five men were detained at the scene on Commercial Street, who may have ties to the incident.
The area surrounding the courthouse was cordoned off and subjected to a meticulous investigation. According to NBC Boston, Massachusetts State Police had responded alongside Medford police officers to find one man suffering from a stab wound. Kalongie Bradley, 28, has been charged with assault and battery with dangerous weapon in connection to the stabbing.
Eyewitness accounts added layers to the story; Medford resident Frank DeMarco recounted a substantial police presence, saying, "I counted 13 cruisers, and then when I got out here I counted 10 or 11 more." Meanwhile, Julien Sack, who was nearby, shared with WHDH, "There was some weird guy running with something in his hand. He was not jogging, [he was] sprinting, and he was crossing around here, and that’s about it." Linking his observations to the crime, Sack emphasized the importance of vigilance, advising "Just be safe out there, that's it, be safe."
Bradley had been at the courthouse for an arraignment following an arrest at Encore Casino, where he was involved in a previous altercation with a relative of the stabbing victim. This connection paints a disturbing picture of events leading to the violent unfoldings outside the court. Bradley is expected to be arraigned on the new charges in Malden District Court today, according to NBC Boston. Massachusetts State Police are continuing their investigation into the brawl, asking witnesses with information to come forward.
