Travelers planning their Sunday drive through Lafayette Parish may need to rethink their route this weekend. According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, a portion of US 167 (Johnston Street) will be narrowed down to a single lane. The northbound direction between Grand Avenue and Lana Drive will see restrictions from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on March 30, contingent on the weather's cooperation.
The lane closure is needed for building an access to US 167. There isn't a detour, but emergency vehicles will still have access, though there could be delays, as per the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Local drivers should expect longer travel times and watch for signs directing them to alternate routes.
