Leicester Police Department has reported the arrest of a local man following a raid on a property suspected to contain illegal firearms and drugs. The social media announcement on the Leicester Police Department Facebook page detailed the operation which took place on February 21, involving multiple units including K-9 and Drone teams who assisted the Leicester Police Detective Bureau.
The search at 31 Towtaid Street led to the discovery of two unlawfully held firearms, a semi-automatic shotgun, a small caliber pistol, plus a considerable stockpile of ammunition, and incidental to this, a glass pipe, and traces of what the authorities believe to be crack cocaine the arms cache and narcotics were stumbled upon in a residence shadowed by the banality of surrounding domesticity, suggesting a veneer of normalcy that concealed the illicit. 52-year-old Sean Dufault, the resident, was apprehended and faces multiple charges including illegal possession of firearms and Class B narcotics.
Dufault, who is now facing serious criminal charges, was held on a $5,000 cash bail, police confirmed that he was arraigned at East Brookfield District Court as of last Monday. As part of the legal process, Leicester Police took care to assert through their communication channels that despite the charges, all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
