Lipscomb University's Bison volleyball team can chalk up more than just a win at November's ASUN Championship quarterfinals; their coach, Brandon Rosenthal, spiked his career with a notable 400th victory. In an unassuming match against the University of North Alabama, Rosenthal lobbed himself into the string of the top 50 active winningest coaches in NCAA Division I, according to Lipscomb University News. With a record that had seemingly stealth approached this milestone, Rosenthal admitted to forgetting about the potential 400th victory until the ESPN crew brought it to light.

"It's one of those wins you never forget," Rosenthal reminisced in a conversation obtained by Lipscomb University. But he's quick to volley the credit back to his team and staff: "All the credit should go to them and the girls,” as stated by Lipscomb University News.

His journey through the sport wasn't simply an ascent to coaching glory. Born on the volleyball-happy beaches of Burbank, California, he made the cross-country journey to Pittsburgh, where he was instrumental in establishing his high school's varsity volleyball program. Rosenthal's life circled back to California for college, where he kept his passion alive by playing club volleyball at Pepperdine. Following his education and a brief stint as a graduate assistant coach at Lipscomb, he took the head coach position at the age of 25.

With an overall record of 401-256, Rosenthal boasts a .610 winning percentage and an even more impressive .769 in the ASUN, Rosenthal has guided the Bisons to a staggering 12 championship final appearances. Moreover, Rosenthal’s teams have graced the NCAA Tournament eight times, secured seven ASUN Tournament Championships, and walked away with six regular-season ASUN titles, Lipscomb University reports.
