Motorists who frequent the stretches of road in Livingston Parish should brace for some disruptions next week. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that essential traffic signal work will commence on LA 43 Northbound and Southbound, as well as on US 190 Eastbound and Westbound, beginning Monday, March 24, 2025 at 8:00 PM and expected to wrap up by Friday, March 28, 2025 at 6:00 AM, weather permitting.
A partial closure will affect these routes, with specific lanes being restricted to facilitate the roadwork. The construction is set to start at Thompson Street and conclude at Bartich Street. To maneuver around the construction, the department has suggested alternative routes for motorists to take.
According to an announcement by the Louisiana DOTD, "Motorists traveling US 190 east may take LA 441 south to I-12, then east to I-55, then north to re-intersect US 190. Motorists traveling US 190 west may take I-55 South to I-12, then west to LA 441, then north to re-intersect US 190." These detours should help alleviate some of the traffic pressures caused by the roadwork.
It is also important for those transporting wider loads to note that there will be a restriction in place, limiting width to 12 feet within the work zone. This detail is crucial for any drivers planning to navigate the area with larger vehicles. As with most construction projects of this nature, patience and planning are key for a smooth commute. Motorists are advised to take note of the closure dates and plan their travels accordingly to avoid delays.
