Early this morning, a severe collision occurred on Florida's Turnpike in Miami Gardens. The crash resulted in a car becoming lodged underneath a semi-truck near Northwest 199th Street, NBC Miami reports.
The accident, which took place in the northbound lanes, led to blockages in two lanes while emergency responders attended the scene. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed they were dispatched around 5:22 a.m. following reports of a crash with injuries, but details regarding the number or condition of victims have not been released.
Footage from the scene showed the car, with its front half significantly compacted, being extricated from beneath the truck and towed away, causing disruptions and heavy traffic.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that at least one victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported from the scene as a trauma alert by ground, according to WSVN.
