Earlier today brought violence to a Deerfield Beach apartment building when two individuals were left injured in a stabbing incident, authorities have confirmed. The Broward Sheriff's Office said that the altercation occurred near SW 1st Terrace and SW 1st Court just after 3:30 a.m., landing two victims in the hospital with injuries. A 50-year-old man has been arrested, facing two counts of attempted murder in connection with the incident, as reported by both Local 10 News and CBS News Miami.
Following the event, residents were forced to hastily gather outside while deputies conducted an investigation at the scene. There, the authorities were observed to thoroughly search around the building and even a dumpster, discovering a bloodied piece of clothing in front of the premises, as Local 10 News details. The suspect in custody has been identified by the sheriff’s office as Thelson Smith, who now awaits legal proceedings relating to the brutal altercation.
The details surrounding the victims' condition remain unclear, with both news outlets withholding such information until further official updates are provided. Paramedics quickly transported the victims to a local hospital for treatment as they were treated for their wounds.
"We need more love in our hearts, and we need to try and help people more often and just try and pick up our community, make it a better place for all of us," Darrel Adams, a witness to the aftermath of the incident who spoke with Local 10 News.
