Seattle's First Hill neighborhood became the scene of a violent altercation earlier this week when a 50-year-old man was arrested following a hatchet assault. According to the Seattle Police Department's blotter, the suspect is now facing first-degree assault charges after a 34-year-old victim was discovered with a severe neck wound.

Officers were dispatched at 2:39 p.m. to the 900 block of Union Street after receiving a distressing 911 call. Arriving on the scene, they found the victim suffering from a life-threatening laceration to his neck, before the Seattle Fire Department provided immediate medical care and subsequently hurried him to Harborview Medical Center, the report detailed.

Shortly after the incident, police located him inside his 10th-floor apartment, arresting him without confrontation. A detailed search of the suspect's residence led to the discovery of the weapon presumed to be used in the assault. "The knife was approximately 12 inches long with a 7-inch blade," was found under a mattress in the living room, as the Seattle Police Department's blotter states.

After the arrest, the suspect was booked into King County Jail. Their identity is being withheld until the arraignment, and they now face charges of 1st-degree assault.
