One resident, in an attempt to evade the blaze, jumped from the second floor, subsequently injuring himself the man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was then taken to Stroger Hospital and is listed in fair condition; this incident underscores the often perilous nature of home fires and the split-second decisions they force upon those in their path. According to a report from ABC 7 Chicago, the individual sustained an ankle injury due to his fall.
The Chicago police and fire officials swiftly responded to the emergency, facilitating the escape of nine other residents who were fortunate to evade the flames without harm.
