A tragic domestic shooting incident unfolded on Chicago's West Side, leaving a man dead and a woman seriously injured Tuesday morning inside a residence in the Austin neighborhood. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, paramedics arrived at the 5400 block of West Ferdinand Street around 8:40 a.m. to find a 60-year-old man deceased with two gunshot wounds to the head. Police scanner traffic indicated that there may have been a struggle over a pistol before it discharged.
The WGN-TV report shares that a 39-year-old woman was also discovered at the scene, having sustained a gunshot wound to the left thigh. She was subsequently transported to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in fair condition. The circumstances of the shooting remain under the inquiry of Area Four detectives.
While the man's identity has not been released, the incident has been identified as being domestic by the Chicago Police Department.
