Last night, a man was shot in an area of District 6 now cordoned off by police tape. The incident, which occurred in the 5400 block of Queens, has left the local community searching for answers as investigators piece together the scant clues left in the wake of violence.
The call reporting the shooting was placed to authorities just before 7 p.m., according to a statement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD). Officers quickly mobilized and arrived at the scene, where they found the victim, a 33-year-old man, with a gunshot wound to his hip. However, details about the shooting have been hard to come by, as the victim, now a key figure in the case, has so far withheld his cooperation from law enforcement officials.
The SLMPD, dealing with the layers of reticence that often shroud such incidents, stated that the man "would not cooperate with officers and refused to provide any information relative to how he got shot." First responders provided medical attention and the injured man was transported to a hospital, where his condition was listed as stable.
As of now, no suspects have been identified and the location from which the shot originated remains a mystery. The SLMPD is continuing its investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward.
