The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) along with the Illinois Conservation Foundation (ICF) are putting their money where their quivers are, providing a dozen $1,000 scholarships to top-tier competitors, and if you're wondering about the significance. "The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is proud to be among the first 10 states that registered to participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program," said IDNR Director Natalie Phelps Finnie. Danville High School is scheduled to play host to an International Bowhunting Organization (IBO 3-D) archery tournament event come April 5, where four more $1,000 scholarships are up for grabs, geared toward students who not only nail their targets but also their books.
