Miami-Dade County Animal Services has received a $45,000 grant to help adoptable pets find their forever homes during PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week, which runs from next week's Monday to Sunday. The funds will cover veterinary care, supplies, and promotional efforts for the event, as per the Miami-Dade County release.
The adoption events will take place at two PetSmart locations in Miami, where pet lovers can meet a variety of animals, including puppies, kittens, older dogs, and cats. Miami-Dade County Animal Services hopes to match around 50 pets with families during the week-long event. Staff and volunteers will assist visitors in finding the right pet for their lifestyle.
"PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week provides an incredible opportunity for us to connect with the community and help more pets find forever homes," said Annette Jose, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services in the same release. Heidi Marston, director of pet placement at PetSmart Charities, encouraged visitors to adopt, saying, "There is nothing like the unconditional love of a pet! Please stop by your neighborhood PetSmart store and meet your new best friend."
The adoption events will take place from 10 AM to 3 PM at PetSmart locations in Flagler and W. Kendall in Miami. A full list of event times and locations is available on Miami-Dade County Animal Services' website.
PetSmart Charities has worked for over 30 years to improve the lives of pets and their families through funding and advocacy.
