An employee of Miami-Dade County Public Schools faces multiple felony charges after police discovered he possessed and compiled child pornography. Arthur Shulof Collot, a 63-year-old maintenance worker, was arrested at his Hollywood home with incriminating files on his devices. NBC Miami reports that Collot was hit with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of compiling child pornography.
Collot's arrest stemmed from an investigation that began with a tip to police this past November, indicating that he had downloaded illegal material in his residence. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators found dozens of images of children being sexually exploited. According to Local10, the ages of victims in the files ranged from 3, with content including rape and bondage.
Prior to his admission, Collot initially denied any involvement but eventually confessed to downloading child pornography since the 1990s. He also claimed to use the dark web for obtaining the content. As detailed by police, Collot has been booked into jail, and as of yesterday, he was being held at the Broward Main Jail with a bond set at $82,500.
A statement from Miami-Dade County Public Schools obtained by Local10 noted the district is "deeply troubled by the disturbing allegations" and that "this district is committed to upholding all employees to the highest standard of integrity and respect and this type of comportment will not be tolerated." The school district has announced plans to terminate Collot's employment and prevent him from seeking future employment within the district.
