
A Miami resident has become the latest Florida Lottery millionaire. Fifty-year-old Marcos Valim won $1 million from the 500X THE CASH scratch-off game, officials announced on Monday. Valim opted for a lump-sum payment of $640,000 before taxes, according to WSVN.
Valim purchased the winning ticket at a Publix supermarket located at 4870 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami. The store will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the ticket, as per Local 10 News. The 500X THE CASH scratch-off game offers a top prize of $25 million, the largest ever on a Florida scratch-off ticket. With over $1.66 billion in total cash prizes, the odds of winning are 1 in 4.23.
Scratch-off games make up about 74% of Florida Lottery ticket sales. The lottery has awarded over $65.5 billion in prizes and contributed nearly $20 billion to education since its inception.
