A Broward tax preparer, Jimmy Desir of Miramar, Florida, has been charged with tax fraud, according to federal prosecutors. Desir, 46, was arrested after being indicted on 22 counts of aiding in filing false tax returns, as per the U.S. Attorney's Office release.

Desir allegedly used his business, A1 Plus Financial Services, Inc., in North Miami Beach, to file fraudulent tax returns. Reports state that Desir inflated his clients' refunds by adding false fuel tax credits, education credits, and fictitious business losses, leading to a projected loss of over $2 million to the IRS.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida and IRS Criminal Investigation's Miami Field Office announced Desir's arrest. Hayden P. O’Byrne, U.S. Attorney, and Emmanuel Gomez, Special Agent in Charge, were involved in the investigation.

It is important to note that an indictment is not a conviction. Desir is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, as guaranteed by the U.S. legal system.

For more information, court documents and details can be accessed through the official website of the District Court for the Southern District of Florida or the PACER system using the case number 25-cr-20070. Assistant U.S. Attorney Aimee Jimenez is handling the prosecution.
