The National Weather Service in Nashville has updated its weather forecast for the region, signaling a tumultuous start to the week with a mix of showers and thunderstorms. Today's conditions begin with a chance of showers before picking up intensity between 4 pm and 5 pm when the area might see a mix of showers and possible thunderstorms. "Increasing clouds, with a high near 75," the National Weather Service reports, cautioning locals to prepare for gusty winds potentially reaching 30 mph, and a 60% chance of precipitation which could result in rainfall amounts ranging between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.
Tonight's outlook anticipates more showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Temperatures are expected to hover around a low of 47 degrees, while the wind shifts from south-southwest to northwest after nightfall, reaching gusts of up to 25 mph. An 80% chance of precipitation brings new rainfall between a quarter and half an inch into the realm of possibility. Monday will offer a reprieve from the rain, presenting sunny skies with a high near 68 and wind gusts as high as 20 mph, offering a brief respite from the weekend's capricious climate.
The clearer skies seem set to continue through to the middle of the week, according to the NWS forecast. Tuesday maintains mostly sunny weather, with a high around 72 degrees and winds shifting from south to west in the afternoon, potentially gusting up to 20 mph. Conditions on Tuesday night will transition to partly cloudy with a low around 47, and Wednesday will mirror the sunny disposition of Monday, with temperatures expected to peak near 68 degrees.
Looking ahead to the latter part of the week, the weather is forecasted to remain amiable. Thursday's sunny high near 72 degrees precedes a partly cloudy evening with a modest low around 53. On Friday, the mercury is poised to climb, with partially sunny skies and a high pushing to a near-balmy 79 degrees. However, the week may close on a less stable note with the introduction of a 30 percent chance of showers by Saturday, though the day is predicted to remain mostly cloudy with a high persisting near 77 degrees.
