New developments have unfolded in the investigation of a homicide that rattled a New Orleans neighborhood last month. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) has apprehended 21-year-old Mckenzie Fair, in connection with the fatal shooting of Reynard Cennett, age 35. Cennett's body was discovered, bearing a fatal gunshot wound, on February 22, 2025, near a walking path in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue in the city's Third District.

According to a report by NOPD News, the police were summoned to the site around 7:30 a.m. that day. Emergency Medical Services were quick to the scene, where they pronounced Cennett deceased. The Orleans Parish Coroner later confirmed the victim's identity. Yesterday, NOPD Homicide Detective Maggie Darling secured a warrant for Fair's arrest, who, at the time, was already incarcerated at the Orleans Justice Center on unrelated charges and was rebooked on charges of second-degree murder.

The police department has put forth an appeal to the public, requesting that anyone with additional information about this case come forward, making their plea through various channels, including the NOPD Homicide Unit at (504) 658-5300. The NOPD statement reminds the public that "all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty."
