The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is looking into a deadly shooting incident that unfolded on Moss Street yesterday. The shooting claimed the life of one man and left a woman injured. This violent occurrence adds to the city's ongoing struggle with gun violence.
According to the NOPD News release, the shooting happened around 2:41 p.m. in the 600 block of Moss Street. NOPD First District officers responded immediately after a call alerted them to the shooting. Upon arrival, they found an adult male and an adult female, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The NOPD detailed the sequence of the emergency response.
Emergency Medical Services quickly transported the victims to a local hospital for medical attention. Tragically, the male victim did not survive and was later pronounced dead. The female victim's condition has been stabilized, much to the relief of concerned family and friends.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and information that may lead them to those responsible and understand the motive behind the attack. The identities of the victims have yet to be disclosed, pending the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office's autopsy and official cause of death findings and the notification of next of kin, as stated by the NOPD.
