Following a violent incident targeting the head of the State Accident Insurance Fund (SAIF), Governor Tina Kotek condemned the attack and called for community assistance in the ongoing investigation. In a statement issued by the governor's office and provided to the Oregon newsroom, Kotek emphatically stated, "The acts of violence last week against the State Accident Insurance Fund (SAIF) Chief Executive have no place in our state, and I urge anyone who may have information about this attack or the instigators to provide that information to law enforcement."
Law enforcement officials are actively pursuing leads in what appears to be an unwarranted act of aggression against a state executive. To quickly pursue justice, the police are appealing to the public, hoping someone will come forward with information that could help to possibly identify the perpetrators. Governor Kotek's office made it clear that "any acts or threats of violence will not be tolerated, and those responsible must be held accountable to the letter of the law."
As part of their appeal, the Lake Oswego Police Department has provided contact information for their detectives' tip line and have encouraged the submission of tips, which can be shared anonymously. Those with information which might aid the police in their investigation are asked to call (503) 635-0232. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the online portal recommended by the governor's statement.
