Commuters in Broward County faced significant delays after an overturned tractor-trailer blocked lanes on Florida's Turnpike. Yesterday evening during rush hour, all southbound lanes near the Sunrise Boulevard exit were closed, and the cleanup continued into the night.
NBC Miami reported that the traffic jam was caused by the tractor-trailer spilling its contents across the road. Only one lane on the northbound side was open, further slowing traffic.
A semi-tractor trailer rolled over near Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac. The driver was unharmed, but the vehicle crossed the median and rolled onto its side, causing a shutdown of the southbound lanes and emergency services blocking two northbound lanes, as per the WSVN report.
The firefighters were seen throwing water on the rolled-over truck that was on fire. Crews worked overnight to clear the truck, but the cause of the fire and the timeline for reopening the lanes remained unclear.
