Marking a significant milestone in local business camaraderie and economic tenacity, the Owen County Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated a century of operation. In a gesture acknowledging the importance of such community cornerstones, Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) and State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington) crafted a resolution in honor of the Chamber's 100th anniversary. The resolution, Senate Concurrent Resolution 27, passed with universal agreement in the Senate.
The apex of local enterprise, the Owen County Chamber of Commerce, launched on June 25, 1925, and has since swelled to include more than 270 businesses and organizations. The resolution lauded the chamber's unwavering support to these entities, which are integral to the fabric of the county. "Small businesses are the lifeblood of any community, and chambers of commerce help foster growth among local businesses in the communities they serve and beyond," Bray's recognition was quoted in an article by Indiana Senate Republicans.
Bray looks forward to a continued partnership with the Chamber, aiming to bolster further development within the area. Their sentiment reflects a shared understanding of the Chamber’s significant impact in fostering a collaborative environment where businesses can thrive.
In harmony with Bray's thoughts, Sen. Bassler, who boasts his own roots in small business, echoed a similar sentiment regarding the Chamber's influence. "For 100 years, the Owen County Chamber of Commerce has championed its neighbors and promoted locally owned businesses across the county, and I am grateful for the work it has done to support growth and opportunity," Bassler stated, as per the Indiana Senate Republicans.
