The Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department (PBCWUD) has issued a warning about utility scammers. Residents have reported encountering fake salespeople pretending to be county employees, trying to sell in-home water filtration systems and similar products.

According to the Palm Beach County website, PBCWUD emphasizes that its employees will never visit your home uninvited or try to sell products. If someone claims to be from “the county water plant,” “the county,” or “PBC utilities,” they are likely not legitimate.

To protect residents, PBCWUD advises that employees are always in uniform, in marked county vehicles, and carry official county-issued identification cards. The department also does not endorse home filtration systems. If residents are concerned, they should contact local law enforcement.

PBCWUD encourages customers to review their annual Water Quality Report, which is available online and included with water bills each spring. For more details, residents can visit the utility's website.
