A Peoria man is now behind bars after a shooting in Central Peoria left another man hospitalized early Saturday morning. Andrew L. Webster, 26, was apprehended and faces several charges, including aggravated discharge of a firearm and weapon possession violations, 25NewsNow reported.
Officers responded to a call at about 12:25 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Fallen Oak Lane, within the Lexington Hills apartment complex, where a 26-year-old male victim, whose name has yet to be released, was found with a gunshot injury, according to Central Illinois Proud. The man was subsequently taken to a local hospital.
The investigation led the police to a vehicle presumably related to the incident, spotted in the 100 block of East Hines Place. They saw three individuals exit and walk away from the vehicle before attempting to flee from the scene when approached by the officers. Webster was detained while the other two suspects managed to evade the police. During a search of the car, a handgun was located, as detailed by 25NewsNow.
Webster now faces multiple charges. He was booked into the Peoria County Jail and remains in custody, the authorities said. The incident remains under active investigation, as police continue their search for the other two individuals involved in the case.
