Heads up, drivers: Mounes Street will be shutting down this Sunday. According to an official statement from Jefferson Parish, all lanes at the intersection of Mounes Street and Sams Avenue are scheduled for closure on March 9 from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. This disruption comes as part of a necessary step to install a new water line across Mounes Street. Detours will be in place for both westbound and eastbound motorists, aiming to minimize the inconvenience, according to the Jefferson Parish.
For those travelling west on Mounes Street, you can expect to be detoured north on Edwards Avenue to Citrus Boulevard, before heading south on Dickory Avenue to circle back to Mounes Street. Eastbound travelers will similarly be redirected north on Dickory Avenue, then east on Citrus Boulevard, before taking southbound Sams Avenue and rejoining Mounes Street. Officials from Jefferson Parish have worked to ensure traffic flow will be maintained as smoothly as possible, despite the interruption. Full details on the detour routes can be found on the Jefferson Parish website.
The emergency construction work is set to be a one-day affair, wrapping up within the stipulated time on Sunday, weather permitting. The Jefferson Parish is urging drivers to plan their Sunday travel accordingly to avoid any potential delays and urges patience during this infrastructure improvement.
