A tragic incident occurred in Pompano Beach when a driver struck two pedestrians, leading to the arrest of the driver on multiple charges. The collision resulted in the death of Patricia Marciante and left her husband, Salvatore, in critical condition. CBS12 reports that the couple, visiting from New York, was crossing an intersection when they were hit by a pickup truck.
The Broward County Sheriff's Office identified 37-year-old Ashley Bowman as the driver who allegedly fled the scene. Deputies later found her 2019 Toyota Tacoma, which led to her arrest. Bowman faces charges including driving under the influence causing manslaughter and failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving death, according to CBS12.
Antonio Marciante, Salvatore’s brother, described the tragic events to WENY News, saying, “A Ford truck, being driven by a female, struck my brother Sal and Patricia. Patricia was run over twice, and the vehicle fled the scene.” Antonio shared that his brother is improving, saying, “It’s going to be a slow recovery but, you know, by the grace of God, he’s doing much better.” Bowman is currently being held without bond and is expected to appear in court later this week.
