State Rep. Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) has been appointed to the White River State Park Development Commission, House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) announced. Lindauer, known for his role as chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, will now to help guide the growth and management of the White River State Park, a core urban park space in downtown Indianapolis.
"I'm honored to be appointed to the White River State Park Development Commission and look forward to working with fellow commissioners and legislators to ensure this unique state attraction continues to thrive and bring growth to Indiana," Lindauer stated in a press release. The park is not just a spot for relaxation but also a hub for local tourism and economic development, hosting attractions such as the Indianapolis Zoo and the Eiteljorg Museum.
As a member of the commission, Lindauer's role will be to oversee various park improvements and initiatives for long-term planning. He aims to maintain the park as a premier destination for Indianapolis residents and visitors alike, fostering a space that blends recreational amenities with cultural experiences.
Throughout his tenure, Lindauer has advocated for boosting state tourism and conservation, a track record aligning with his new responsibilities. "White River State Park is a vital part of our capital city, providing recreational spaces, tourism and economic development opportunities for Hoosiers," he told Indiana House Republicans in a past interview. This new appointment ensures he will continue to play a significant role in the stewardship and enhancement of Indiana's natural and cultural assets.
