In South Boston, a traffic infraction led to an arrest on drug and firearm charges. According to the Boston Police Department's official statement, officers from the District C-6 Drug Control unit took Davien Fuentes, 22, of Revere, into custody after uncovering both drugs and a loaded firearm during a vehicle stop.
The incident occurred near Virginia and Davern Streets, where officers noted a vehicle parked illegally in a handicap spot. They observed a man, later identified as Fuentes, exiting a nearby building and approaching the vehicle, before withdrawing an item and pocketing it swiftly. Officers suspected a drug transaction and upon stopping the vehicle for investigation, they discovered several packages of marijuana in a backpack. Fuentes was asked to step out of the vehicle at which point, officers found a Glock 26 with an extended magazine capable of holding 27 rounds hidden under the driver's seat.
Further searching yielded twenty-two bags of marijuana and about $1,657 in cash. For these finds, "Fuentes was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D," the Boston Police Department reported. The arraignment is set to take place in Roxbury District Court, where the implications of these charges will be addressed.
