She was unanimously selected by the City Commission and the City Manager Search Committee. Williams has significant experience in city governance, including capital projects and public-private partnerships.
According to the City of Fort Lauderdale website, Williams recently served as assistant city manager for the City of Miami Beach, where she managed the operations of the Miami Beach Convention Center, two community redevelopment agencies, and various departments. She also has experience as an interim city manager, overseeing a workforce of over 2,200 employees and managing key departments such as Police, Fire, and Finance.
At the announcement of her appointment, Mayor Dean Trantalis welcomed Williams, expressing excitement about her potential impact on the city. He noted her fresh perspective and wealth of experience in addressing community issues.
Williams shared her enthusiasm for her new role, stating she was honored to serve as city manager and looking forward to working with the City Commission, staff, and community to continue the city’s growth. She emphasized her focus on innovative and community-driven solutions.
Williams holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and a graduate certificate in Community Development from Florida International University, along with a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Florida. Her educational and professional background played a key role in her selection for the position.
