Starting Wednesday, March 5, motorists on West Esplanade Avenue at Cleary Avenue can expect a slight detour. One lane in each direction will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, lasting until March 11. As Jefferson Parish officials have announced, these temporary closures are a necessary step to facilitate the removal, cutting, and capping of a gas line over the canal, with the project slated to reach completion by Tuesday, March 11, weather willing.
During the closure, the remaining lanes will be used for traffic in both directions. While delays are expected, the flow of cars will be maintained. This detour is part of necessary infrastructure maintenance, and commuters are advised to allow extra travel time or find alternate routes.
Construction schedules depend on weather conditions, and bad weather could delay the project. Officials have noted that the planned dates may change if poor weather disrupts the construction process.
Local businesses and residents can rest assured that every effort is being made to speed up the process and reduce disruption. Stay informed with the latest traffic updates and plan your routes to avoid delays.
