Drivers navigating through Orleans Parish should prepare for some delays as roadwork is scheduled to begin on Westbound and Eastbound US 90, also known as Chef Menteur Highway. Starting on Monday, March 17, at 7:00 AM and anticipated to run until Friday, March 21, at 5:00 PM, traffic signal work will lead to partial closures affecting both left and right lanes.
According to an announcement by the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), this roadwork involves alternating lane closures. Motorists should expect recurring alternating single lane closures from Press Drive to Majestic Oaks Drive.
The scheduled maintenance is subject to favorable weather conditions, and the timings differ for each direction. For eastbound traffic, the restriction will recur from Monday, March 17, through Friday, March 21, between 7 AM and 3 PM each day. Westbound lanes will see similar closures, with the work being done from 9 AM to 5 PM on the same dates.
Commuters should plan their routes accordingly, as the alternating lane closure is expected to cause significant disruptions. The DOTD advises seeking alternative routes or allowing for extra travel time to navigate the affected segments of US 90. The roadwork, specifically aimed at improving traffic signals, is part of project H.012312.6, which is geared towards enhancing roadway security and efficiency for the travelling public.
