A Roxbury man was arrested yesterday evening after a confrontation in which he allegedly brandished a knife at another person. The Boston Police Department reports that officers from District E-13 in Jamaica Plain apprehended 28-year-old Kavon Coston following an altercation that occurred inside a Washington Street store.

According to the official police report, Coston is accused of chasing the victim with a knife after a misunderstanding about skipping the line at around 6:45 p.m. Arriving at 3084 Washington Street, officers found that the victim, having feared for his life, had sought refuge by running to the basement and locking themselves in for safety.

Witness descriptions enabled law enforcement to detain Coston on Columbus Avenue near the Boston Public Library. During the arrest, officers discovered eleven prescription pills on him in addition to a knife. "The suspect was placed into handcuffs and officers recovered a knife," said Boston Police in their statement.

Coston is facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of Class E drugs, both serious public safety concerns that were swiftly addressed by the police. He is scheduled for arraignment in Roxbury District Court.
