Heads up, drivers: if you're planning to hit the I-20 Westbound in Ruston come early April, you'll want to brace for a slight detour. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that the Westbound Off-Ramp (Exit 86) at LA 33 (Farmerville Highway) is getting a brief shutdown for a bit of a facelift. According to a DOTD statement, the closure will occur on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, during which maintenance crews will be repairing a concrete panel that presumably has seen better days.
For those caught in the grind, DOTD has mapped out an alternative route. Westbound traffic is advised to veer off earlier at the I-20 Westbound Off-Ramp (Exit 85), make a left on US 167 Southbound, and turn left onto the I-20 South Frontage Road, which will guide them back on track to LA 33. Given the extensive repair work maintaining the safety of our roads, these interruptions, while briefly inconvenient, support the larger fabric of our daily journeys.
Commuters and local residents alike should stay vigilant when navigating through or nearby the construction area. "DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment," the DOTD urged in the same announcement. Safety is paramount, and it's on every driver to keep their eyes peeled and give space to others – whether they're fellow motorists or the people working hard to improve the streets we all rely on.
