Authorities are reaching out to the public for assistance after a home burglary turned a day sour for the owners of Hatfield Creek Vineyards and Winery in Ramona. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, the incident unfolded last Sunday around 4 p.m. in the 1600 block of State Route 78. The San Diego County Crime Stoppers echo the call for aid, highlighting the theft of approximately $15,000 in jewelry and rare collectible coins.
Described as two possibly Hispanic, heavy-set men, the suspects remain at large. Nearby wineries reported suspicious individuals on their properties at times that suspiciously sandwiched the burglary between 3:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., but nothing appeared amiss upon further inspection, leading to no additional crime reports filed. This was revealed by the same investigation that was working to uncover the details of the Hatfield Creek event.
San Diego County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information on the burglary or whereabouts of the stolen items to step forward. Confidential tips can be directed to their line at (858) 868-3200 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. To encourage information sharing, Crime Stoppers offers up to a $1,000 reward that leads to an arrest.
