The NWS has included most of the area in an Excessive Rainfall Outlook for Wednesday into early Thursday. Temperatures will take a slight dip on Monday, providing the precursor to the impending downpour due to an upper-level disturbance inching in from the south.
Regarding aviation, the conditions are currently rated as VFR (Visual Flight Rules) at all terminals, with high confidence that this state will persist through the Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts period. The winds, taking a southerly and southwesterly direction later in the morning, will be stirred by a shortwave trough off Point Conception and the parent low in the Gulf of Alaska.
For marine conditions, from today until Tuesday, a sense of calm will pervade with moderate seas and winds. However, as per the marine update, come Wednesday, mariners should brace themselves for a return to hazardous conditions with rough seas, strong southwesterly breezes with potential gale-force gusts, and the possibility of moderate rainfall, with thunderstorms Thursday thought to interrupt it. The week ushers in more disturbances as another system is set to bring widespread rainfall across the region sometime next weekend.
