San Francisco resident man faced the long arm of the law after allegedly rolling out of a Colma Target with a shopping cart brimming with ill-gotten goods. The Colma Police Department reports the incident occurred last Sunday afternoon, when local officers, on a routine pass of the Serra Center Shopping Center, were alerted by Target's loss prevention staff to a theft in progress.
It appears the targeted Target was not his first rodeo. Upon exiting with a cart teetering with $1,149.67 worth of merchandise, loss prevention officers made contact and escorted the 35-year-old back inside the retail establishment. Target representatives, far from forgiving, opted to proceed with pressing charges. The Colma Police Department said in their social media post that the male "was placed under arrest for the theft."
Upon his arrest, the male was booked into the San Mateo County Jail, awaiting the consequences of his alleged shopping spree without payment. The haul, which amassed an amount just shy of grand theft's $950 benchmark in California, ensured that his charges were not to be taken lightly. As details unfold, the motives behind his alleged actions remain as obscured as the contents of that laden cart.
