Last Thursday, around 6:48 p.m., the SFPD was called to a scene where a commercial establishment was held up at gunpoint by two individuals who made off with merchandise and escaped in a vehicle, the San Francisco Police Department stated.
The following day, investigators tracked down the vehicle allegedly used in the robbery. The suspects, identified as Joseph Baus, 34, and Matthew Rabbitt, 49, were spotted by the Citywide Plainclothes Team during a surveillance operation around 16th Street and Potrero Ave. Attempting to evade police once more, the alleged criminals fled from the disabled vehicle, leading officers on a foot chase that ended with all three suspects being taken into custody without further incident.
Upon searching the vehicle utilized in the robbery, police discovered a rifle with a loaded magazine and additional evidence verifying the involvement of the suspects in the crime, San Francisco Police Department authorities confirmed. According to the SFPD news release, a photo of the rifle was also provided to substantiate their findings.
The trio, including Danielle Edwards, 43, of San Francisco, now face multiple charges. Having been successful at subduing the vehicle, officers arrested Baus and Rabbitt for robbery, conspiracy, and possessing an assault weapon, among other charges, whereas Edwards received charges for resisting arrest and an outstanding warrant out of county. Specifically, Rabbitt was also charged with possession of a controlled substance while armed and with possession of methamphetamine.
