A fire broke out at a school on the 100 block of Channel Street, prompting a quick response from the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD). The blaze, described as a 1-alarm fire, originated around a stove in the school's kitchen area. All children were securely evacuated, and according to a social media post by the San Francisco Fire Department, the fire was contained in the building, which was now cleaned and handed back to management.
The incident, which unfolded earlier at 5:00 PM, was further complicated by the after-school rush. Traffic congestion, with a heavy presence of pedestrians and the necessary halt of MUNI public transport, presented additional challenges to the emergency response.
Despite this, SFFD Fire Station 4, located mere blocks away, managed a prompt and effective intervention.
