The San José Police Department (SJPD) has completed a significant operation resulting in the arrest of six individuals allegedly involved in a series of carjackings and related crimes. According to the SJPD's news release, the crimes included multiple armed carjackings, armed robberies, strong-armed robberies, vehicle thefts, and burglaries, as well as sideshow activities, with the incidents spanning several months.

Starting with the early morning hours of November 19, 2024, a victim was threatened at gunpoint, as one of the suspects brandished a firearm after being confronted while breaking into the victim's vehicle. Fleeing in the stolen vehicle before the police arrived, the suspects continued their criminal activities, eventually being traced to recovered vehicles in San Francisco, Oakland, and Hayward. Following the chain of events leading to the arrests, a comprehensive investigation was initiated by the SJPD Robbery Unit. Both Darren Nguyen and Alexander Carrillo, 19, were identified as adult suspects, while the names of four juvenile suspects have been withheld due to their age.

Diligence across multiple departments facilitated the apprehension of the suspects. The SJPD was not alone in this effort. They were assisted by the Morgan Hill Police Department, Berkeley Police Department, Hayward Police Department, and Santa Clara County Probation Office, among others. The dedicated work of these combined forces culminated in a series of arrests throughout December and February, with suspects being booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail or Juvenile Hall as appropriate. One juvenile behind bars for an unrelated crime was transferred to Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall to join his co-accused.
