A San Mateo man with a past embedded in local education has been apprehended on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office revealed that Michael C. Ross, 67, was arrested following a tip-off received from the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. In the span of a search at his residence last month, thousands of explicit materials involving minors were discovered by authorities.
Ross, whose record includes stints as a substitute teacher and tutor, was taken into custody on February 19 and was then released on bail as mandated by the courts, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office reported. The concern now pivots to his professional engagements, as investigators are urging the public to step forward, particularly those who may have information pertinent to the inquiry. This investigation was marked by collaborative efforts among the Sheriff's Office detectives, the San Jose Police Department, and the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Ross now faces the legal system’s reckoning for violating PC 311.11(a), a statute directly addressing possessing such unlawful content.
