The search for missing Indiana tourist Brenda Surbey, 60, continues in Sunrise, Florida, over a month after her disappearance. Surbey was last seen on February 8 near the 6800 block of Sunset Strip while visiting her parents in Weston, as reported by NBC Miami. The search intensified when her suitcases and wallet were found at a nearby ballpark.
NBC Miami reports that Surbey's parents are particularly concerned because she is bi-polar and was not taking her medication when she disappeared. Her father recalled an argument on February 6, after which she walked away. He saw her again on February 8, but since then, there has been no contact.
Elizabeth Surbey, Brenda's mother, told NBC Miami, "She’s my daughter, I love her so much, I just want her back. I want to know that she’s safe. I want to know that she’s making better decisions."
In addition to working with the Broward Sheriff's Office, the family has hired a private investigator to help with the search, WFLA reports.
