
A serious collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle occurred last evening in San Diego's Park West neighborhood, as reported by the San Diego Police Department. The incident took place at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Maple Street around 9:10 pm, where a 47-year-old man was struck by a 2015 BMW sedan while crossing the road. The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries, including a severe brain bleed and multiple fractures.
According to Officer J. Perales, the Watch Commander, the 63-year-old driver of the BMW did not yield to the pedestrian in an unmarked crosswalk when these events unfolded. Neither alcohol nor other intoxicants were a factor in the collision. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed.
The San Diego Police Department Traffic Division has taken over the investigation, seeking to uncover the events that culminated in this tragedy. Authorities have not yet issued updates on the injured man's condition or provided additional details on the course of the investigation.
