Early this morning, a Sheridan man was critically injured in a shooting at a home on SW Lachance Road in Grand Ronde, local authorities report. The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office detailed the incident in a social media post, stating that deputies arrived on the scene following the shooting. "The homeowner rendered aid to the victim until law enforcement and medics arrived at the scene," Sheriff Sam Elliott stated.

It was further reported that alcohol consumption was a factor in the altercation that led to the shooting. The victim, who has not been named, was shot multiple times and is now receiving critical care at a regional hospital. The homeowner, whose actions potentially preserved the victim's life, stayed to cooperate with the subsequent investigation.

The suspect, a resident of Woodburn, fled the scene but was later in telephone contact with 911. After intense efforts by law enforcement to track him down, the individual turned himself in to authorities. The Sheriff's office assures that there is no further danger to the public and no other suspects are on the loose in relation to this case.

"We would like to thank the personnel of the Grand Ronde Tribal Police Department, the Grand Ronde Fire Department, the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, the Salem Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Woodburn Police Department for their assistance with this incident," Sheriff Elliott expressed, as reported by the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office.
