Shreveport drivers, take note: you're going to want to steer clear of LA 523 (Line Avenue) near Ashley Ridge Blvd come next Monday. In an announcement made by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the southbound outer lane near the railroad crossing just north of the boulevard will be off-limits from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 24, 2025. The closure is intended for crews to update the advance warning signage at the railroad crossing there.
For those plotting their commute, or simply running the daily errands, this 0.25-mile stretch just north of the LA 3132 interchange will be one to avoid. Alternatively, without a suggested alternate route, it might be wise to plan your own detour around the construction. The work – as is always the way – is subject to the whims of the sky, set to proceed only if the weather deems it permissible.
The DOTD wants to remind everyone to tread carefully: "DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment," their statement noted. Not just for motorists, but for the pedestrians, and the bike riders threading the needle of their urban environment – remain vigilant and give these workers the space they need.
