Concerned citizens likely witnessed the surge as squad cars lined the streets and uniformed individuals canvassed the area.
According to a social media post by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, there was no cause for public alarm despite the heavy law enforcement activity which indicates that whatever occurred was contained, and residents need not worry for their immediate safety. The post, which appeared on the Sheriff's Office's official Facebook page, succinctly assured the community stating, "This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public."
The sheriff's office later updated concerned residents with a brief follow-up post stating, "6:45 P.M.-ALL UNITS HAVE CLEARED FROM DESTREHAN DRIVE," signifying a conclusion to the conspicuous activities of the day and a return to regular community rhythms.
