The National Weather Service in New Orleans has relayed a straightforward weather update for the community, forecasting a series of serene, sunny days followed by potential showers as we head into the weekend. Today's weather promises clear skies with a high of around 75 degrees and a slight uptick in the south wind moving at 5 to 10 mph as the morning progresses, according to the official NWS forecast.
Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear, with the temperature dipping to a low near 61, and the south wind sustaining its pace at around 10 mph, though it might gust as high as 20 mph. Tomorrow is expected to be mostly sunny again, with a high near 79 and southwesterly winds gaining strength, reaching 10 to 15 mph, potentially gusting up to 25 mph. Approximately, these mild conditions serve as a prelude to a slightly windier Thursday.
The forecast details Thursday as a sunny day, with the high peaking near 65 degrees but accompanied by stronger northwest winds. These winds could blow at around 15 mph, with gusts possibly as high as 30 mph. As night falls on Thursday, the sky will remain clear with a low around 49, and winds will eventually shift to come from the northeast after midnight.
Heading into Friday, the sunny trend persists with the temperature expected to rise to a high near 68. A calm east wind will transition to south in the afternoon. The evening is set to be mostly clear, as the low settles around 57 and the south wind slows to a mild 5 mph before calming completely overnight. By Saturday, temperatures are forecast to climb even higher, reaching a sunny high near 78.
However, by Sunday, the NWS predicts a shift, stating, "A chance of showers and thunderstorms" is on the horizon. Despite this, the daytime will remain partly sunny, with a high near 77 and a south wind continuing at a gentle pace of 5 to 10 mph. The likelihood of precipitation increases into Sunday night, with showers and a potential thunderstorm anticipated. The trend of rainfall is expected to trickle into Monday, bringing another chance of showers and thunderstorms, due in part to the wind shifting from west to north in the afternoon.
