A brutal assault at a Hillcrest gas station has turned fatal, and a suspect is now in custody for the murder. The San Diego Police Department, through an email release, has confirmed that the incident took place in front of the establishment located at 330 Washington Street. Yesterday, around 4:54 p.m., witnesses observed a man being strangled and his head slammed against the pavement. They immediately contacted authorities and described the assailant, noting he fled west on Washington Street.
Following the call, police officers arrived at the scene, where they found the 61-year-old white male victim unconscious. Despite the officers' efforts to render aid and the subsequent arrival of medics who transported him to a local hospital, the injuries proved fatal. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin is notified. Meanwhile, Solomon Guerrero, 55, was apprehended near West Washington Street and Albatross Street, fitting the eyewitnesses' description, and has since been arrested and booked for murder.
