In the quiet predawn hours on a Salt Lake City street, the calm was shattered when two men, later identified as 18-year-old Michael Manuelito and 21-year-old Nicholas Reddye, allegedly committed a carjacking at gunpoint, this incident, safely diffused by the vigilant efforts of local law enforcement, resulted in no injuries, a rarity in such potentially volatile situations. The ordeal began around 1:58 a.m. Wednesday, near 210 West 500 South, where the suspects reportedly menaced the victims with threatening statements, subsequently absconding with their vehicle, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
The swift response from the Salt Lake City Police Department's Central Patrol Division led to the discovery of the stolen car and the apprehension of the suspects at 700 South 400 East, Manuelito was taken into custody without further incident, meanwhile Reddye led officers on a brief foot chase before his arrest. Both individuals now face serious charges.
